Sarvalaukik Prathamik Shiksha Mission

‘Sarvalaukik Prathamik Shiksha Mission’ (SPSM) is a project aimed at exploring the most significant problem in Free Primary Education imparted by BMC in Mumbai. Through this project we found that that lack of ‘English’ is one of the main reasons for lack of quality in primary education in municipal schools. As a part of project, we did a one year action oriented research which was supported by PUKAR, urban research collective.

Our vision: “Every Child Gets Quality Education”

The objective of this project was to increase parent’s participation in public education system. For this, we gathered the responses of the parents and other key stake holders through Surveys, Public meetings and Street plays. We tried to echo voices of urban poor, who are demanding improvement in quality of education imparted by government run municipal schools. We did a Community Event in Dharavi and made a short documentary on them. You can see it right here by click play on the video below!
